Hi, My name is Anita L. Platt. I am the owner of Anita’s Puppy Palace Mobile Pet Grooming And Pet Boarding Kennels. First, I would like to thank you for visiting my website and then I’d like to tell you a little about myself and my business.
Why I chose to start a new business centered around animals, from as far back as I can remember, I have always had a love for animals, all types of animals. As a kid who truly loved animals, I had a plan, like many other kids, I decided early in life that when I grew up, I was going to be a Veterinarian.
Yup, I was going to be a vet, and nothing could change my mind; that is until the day a local vet who was a friend of our family invited me to come and watch a cow being born. At first, I was excited beyond words, but my excitement was short-lived when it became apparent too, me that the calf was stuck; I will leave the rest of the story to your imagination. That experience changed everything for me.
My love for animals never changed, but I realized that there were many other ways to be involved with them. I was the child that wanted all the animals, every stray dog or cats, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, I wanted them all.
My parents were both very supportive of this love of mine. They encouraged my interests and helped me to stay involved with animals through our local 4H, and my mother encouraged me to get a job working at a local, popular boarding kennel.

After high school, I went on to college, spending four years at the University of Dayton. After I graduated with a BS in Business Administration (Marketing and Management), I started working a 9 to 5 job. Still, I always felt like I was missing something in my life; these jobs did not fulfill me. The opportunity presented itself to go into a different direction with my career in 1993.
The Beginning of Anita’s Puppy Palace Mobile Pet Grooming and Boarding Kennel
I obtained my pet grooming certification from the Rochester Institute of Dog Grooming in 1994, where right away I felt at home. With the unwavering support of my Husband Grant. Anita’s Puppy Palace was born in October 1994.
The satisfaction of making a pet feel it’s best is really fantastic. I was now doing what I dreamed—working with animals providing a loving service caring for pets, and giving them my undivided attention.
I take pride in being able to accomplish grooming on a “complicated” pet that elsewhere is considered not possible to do without sedation. Also, being able to offer a safe, loving environment for people going on vacation just followed naturally.
I could no longer watch these pets at my house; there were too many. Our Pet Resort was born a few years later in 1998. Again, very rewarding. Not only do I love my profession, I only employ people who love their job and their clients as much as I do.
I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity to provide this service to all of my furry friends and their owners.
